Dr. Fortney enjoys practicing within the broad spectrum of family medicine. In addition to medications, surgery, and various tests when needed, he also encourages his patients to consider healthy diet, regular exercise, and stress reduction strategies to help manage illnesses, chronic diseases and to promote overall wellness and prevention.
Prevention is very important to Dr. Fortney. To impart this philosophy, Dr. Fortney spends time getting to know his patients – giving them his total attention in the exam room. He believes in empowering his patients to have a say in their treatment plan, as well as to help create it. Dr. Fortney sees himself as a health advisor, or coach, and manages as many needs as possible to make health care simple for his patients.
In his free time, Dr. Fortney enjoys practicing yoga as well as hiking and traveling. He is also a proud fan of the Packers and Badgers.
