Musculoskeletal injuries and disease affect people of ll ages and Dr. Solfelt loves the variety of patients and conditions he treats as an orthopedic trauma surgeon. After practicing general orthopedics for many years, Dr. Solfelt obtained fellowship training in the treatment of complex orthopedic trauma. He now treats acute trauma and chronic injuries of the shoulder, pelvis, and upper and lower extremities with the goal of seeing patients heal and return to their favorite activities.
Dr. Solfelt feels honored to be part of his patients’ and their families’ lives during the critical and stressful times following an unexpected injury. It is his goal to facilitate healing and restore function by providing expert care and the information necessary to guide effective rehabilitation. Patients enjoy his friendly, approachable personality and appreciate his concern and responsiveness to their injuries.
Patients trust Dr. Solfelt with their health knowing he will not compromise when making decisions regarding quality of care issues and that he is committed to finding the best solution for their condition. Helping trauma patients in their time of need, whether in Madison or in a developing nation, is the reason Dr. Solfelt finds his career so rewarding.
When not working, Dr. Solfelt enjoys playing the piano and guitar, and outdoor activities with his family including golf, wilderness canoeing, downhill skiing and fly fishing. He has lived in East Africa as a missionary physician and continues to have a passion for applying his orthopedic training to medical education and service of those in need.
